A small plane hit a WEST VIRGINIA PUBLIC BROADCASTING television and radio tower in COOPERS ROCK STATE FOREST in WEST VIRGINIA on FRIDAY (6/22), killing the pilot. The plane was on its way from TIDIOTE and FARMINGTON, PA to MORGANTOWN, WV when it hit the tower.
The tower holds the antenna for noncommercial WVPM and PBS affiliate WNPB-TV/MORGANTOWN. The TV station was knocked off the air, and the radio station continued at reduced power. An investigation by the NTSB and FAA has been concluded but said at a SATURDAY press conference that it may take up to a year to release the results.
