Hometown Columbia To Launch New Triple A Friday; Mike Allen New OM

TOM DAVIS’ DAVIS MEDIA recently purchased two stations in COLUMBIA, S.C. from DOUBLE O RADIO: Country Legends WWNQ and Soft AC WWNU.  We now have more detail.

DAVIS MEDIA has joined with TRIPLE M BROADCASTING to form HOMETOWN COLUMBIA, LLC, run by owner-operator KIRK LITTON. The group will flip Soft AC WWNU to Triple A THIS FRIDAY (6/29).  It will be called 92.1 THE PALM.

Triple A veteran MIKE ALLEN from WCOO (THE BRIDGE)/CHARLESTON will head up the morning team, as well as take the role of MD/OM for THE PALM.  TOM DAVIS, company President and Owner of Triple A WTYD (THE TIDE)/WILLIAMSBURG, VA; BEAU GUNN, GM of DAVIS MEDIA's HOMETOWN WILMINGTON MEDIA and PD of WILMINGTON, NC's Triple A WUIN (THE PENGUIN) and ALLEN will work together to strengthen the Triple A brand across all markets.

THE PALM's official spokesman is MARK BRYAN of HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH and CHUCKTOWN MUSIC.  BRYAN is a graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA in COLUMBIA, where he and DARIUS RUCKER founded the band. He splits his time between CHARLESTON and COLUMBIA, and will promote the station much in the same way BRUCE HORNSBY has done with THE TIDE.

DAVIS' model for Triple A stations works to build promotional partnerships with artists and musicians for the benefit of all and a stronger brand in each market.
