ENTERCOM Top 40 WEZB (B97)/NEW ORLEANS has adopted the name "BREES 97" to commemorate the long-awaited signing of what can only be described as a "historic" contract by NEW ORLEANS SAINTS quarterback DREW BREES.
After details emerged of the five-year deal, worth an estimated $100 million, the station dropped the familiar B97 moniker and began referring to itself as "BREES 97" on-air, on its website and FACEBOOK page.
TOM "JAMMER" NAYLOR, PD of "BREES 97" explained his decision to rename the station saying, "In NEW ORLEANS there are good and bad days, but this is an AMAZING day for everyone who lives and breathes the Black and Gold! We are extremely happy to honor DREW BREES by changing our name for the day to BREES 97! The WHO DAT nation can breathe easier. Now it’s time to party!"
Stopping briefly to chug the last bit of his celebratory 'hurricane,' JAMMER continued, "The station will be BREES 97 throughout the day, feature music to help the WHO DAT nation celebrate and give listeners the chance to win tickets to the first home game of the season!"
