The winner of HUBBARD News WTOP/WASHINGTON's "Commuter Idle" contest for the worst commute in the WASHINGTON area was honored by her boss TODAY, which is no small matter, considering that winner BRENDA WELLS' boss is Secretary of State HILLARY CLINTON.
CLINTON stopped off to honor WELLS on her way out the door for a tour of AFRICA; WELLS, the State Department's Diplomatic Security Coordinator, was joined by her parents and three children for the ceremony, which recognized WELLS for her five hours of daily commuting, which Includes a drive from her SPARROWS POINT, MD home near BALTIMORE to THURGOOD MARSHALL BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, where she boards a MARC regional rail line train to WASHINGTON's METRO rail line, then changing lines, and finally walking a block and catching a bus to the office.
CLINTON congratulated WELLS on her dedication to the job as demonstrated by the commute. "I couldn't believe this was the most powerful woman in the world," WELLS told WTOP, "and here she is, making me feel like a neighbor."
