July 31, 2012 at 1:10 PM (PT)
On the heels of last week’s announcement that BLUE CHAIR RECORDS/COLUMBIA NASHVILLE artist KENNY CHESNEY has joined the lineup for FARM AID 2012, the organization has announced today that the “Family Farm Disaster Fund” has been activated. This program is a fund-raising effort to assist thousands of farming families who have been dramatically affected by our nation’s worst drought in over 50 years.
"Our farmers and the soil they depend on are crucial for the future of agriculture," FARM AID Founder/Pres. WILLIE NELSON said. "FARM AID works to keep every family farmer on the land, no matter what extreme conditions they face."
Every dollar raised through this initiative goes towards the support of local farm groups, churches and other organizations that help farmers during times of crisis due to extreme weather.
The FARM AID 2012 concert will be held in HERSHEY, PA on SEPTEMBER 22nd and will feature WILLIE NELSON, JOHN MELLENCAMP, DAVE MATTHEWS, KENNY CHESNEY and others.
