As first reported early TODAY by the MIAMI HERALD's BARRY JACKSON, former LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA Sports WAXY-A (790 THE TICKET)/MIAMI morning host JORGE SEDANO is joining crosstown BEASLEY Sports WQAM-A as PD and afternoon host.
SEDANO, a former FOX SPORTS RADIO personality who has also added duties on cable's SUN SPORTS and is a fill-in anchor on CBS O&O WFOR-TV (CBS 4), will fill the PD role left vacant by the departure of LEE FELDMAN; his arrival on air will move afternoon host DAN SILEO to the open midday 10a-1p slot left vacant by MICHAEL IRVIN's departure.
“I felt if I wanted to get back in radio, and it was a perfect situation, I would get back," SEDANO told JACKSON. "This is perfect situation. I can put my imprint on the radio station.”
In the press release officially announcing SEDANO's hiring, Vice President and Market Manager JOE BELL said, “JORGE SEDANO has been synonymous with success in Sports Talk Radio, not only in MIAMI but nationally. JORGE will be a great addition to the WQAM daily lineup and his programming abilities will help WQAM remain a dominant force in SOUTH FLORIDA sports radio. I have been a fan of JORGE’s for years…it’s great to have him on the WQAM team!”
SEDANO added, "Having grown up in SOUTH FLORIDA, I understand that WQAM is synonymous with excellence. Some of the biggest names in SOUTH FLORIDA have graced their airwaves. This is a childhood dream that's become a reality. I get to sit in those studios and carry on a legacy that's unparalleled."
