Jack Diamond Celebrates 24 Years Waking Up WRQX
September 4, 2012 at 3:56 AM (PT)
Congratulations to CUMULUS Hot AC WRQX (MIX107.3)/WASHINGTON, D.C. morning fixture JACK DIAMOND, who believe it or not, begins his 24th year on WRQX this morning.
DIAMOND shared some of his favorite times in those 24 years with ALL ACCESS, pointing to becoming friends with KENNY LOGGINS. DIAMOND explained it was "during an appearance on THE JACK DIAMOND MORNING SHOW back in 1990. He would then come by the station each time he was in D.C." [The image on the left is from a party with LOGGINS, DAVE KOZ and DIAMOND at WOLFTRAP around 1994].
"I can explain the T-Shirt," added DIAMOND. "MICK FLEETWOOD of FLEETWOOD MAC, also became a very close friend about the same time. He opened a club in ALEXANDRIA called 'FLEETWOOD'S,' and I was lucky enough to play on a few occasions with FLEETWOOD MAC at his club and on the road -- and my band opened for them a few times. I wore the shirt proudly. Why I tucked it in I have NO idea. Now, to prove I can dish it out and take it, I COULD have asked LISA to PHOTOSHOP out the mustache. I didn't. (Feel free to laugh) I have no excuse for the 'Porn Star' mustache. Why didn't someone TELL me???"
