COX MEDIA GROUP Talk WDBO-A-F/ORLANDO will split its simulcast and launch a Sports format on the AM side as ESPN 580 with ESPN RADIO starting on NOVEMBER 12th, the network announced TODAY (10/9). The present Talk format will continue on the FM side. In addition, the new station will partner with DISNEY's ESPN WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS in KISSIMMEE for special events and programming opportunities and will carry ESPN RADIO play-by-play coverage.
ESPN RADIO has also affiliated with CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WDAE-A (THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/TAMPA, with the two new CENTRAL FLORIDA affiliates taking the place of GENESIS Sports WHBO-A/TAMPA and WHOO-A/ORLANDO, which recently picked up NBC SPORTS NETWORK affiliations.
“We’re pleased to team with COX to broadcast ESPN RADIO content on WDBO, 580, one of the strongest signals in the southeast, and with CLEAR CHANNEL to provide ESPN programming on 620 WDAE,” said ESPN SVP/Production, Business Divisions TRAUG KELLER. "Our new affiliates in both TAMPA and ORLANDO are a huge step up in signal strength, business acumen and our drive to grow our business with the best in the business."
“We are thrilled to offer Central Floridians the opportunity to hear ESPN on 580-AM with an exceptional radio signal allowing ORLANDO listeners to experience the best sports brand and most compelling sports radio content,” said COX MEDIA GROUP/ORLANDO VP/Maket Manager SUSAN LARKIN. “In addition, the partnership with DISNEY and DISNEY SPORTS here in ORLANDO is a great move for COX MEDIA GROUP.”
