Local Galveston Group Wants Cumulus To Donate Silent Station

CUMULUS' KSTB/CRYSTAL BEACH-HOUSTON, TX has been off the air since its facilities were destroyed in Hurricane IKE in 2008, but a local group is trying to get the company to donate the station's license to it so it can revive the operation. The GALVESTON DAILY NEWS reports that GALVESTON COMMUNITY RADIO, headed by JERRY and SANDRA STERN, is marshaling public support and hopes that public pressure will persuade CUMULUS to hand the license over.
KSTB has returned with temporary facilities for the minimum hours needed to maintain the license, but has otherwise been dark for the past four years with no restoration date in sight.
