PREMIERE host RUSH LIMBAUGH was detained for approximately three and a half hours MONDAY upon his return from a trip to the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC for possession of VIAGRA in a bottle that did not bear his name on the label. LIMBAUGH was stopped at PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT after disembarking from his private plane and detained when Customs officers noted that he had a bottle of the erectile dysfunction pills with the names of his doctors, but not his own name, on the label. Sheriff's investigators questioned the host and then released him after confiscating the drugs without charging him, although a report will be filed with the FLORIDA state attorney's office.
LIMBAUGH's attorney ROY BLACK issued a statement saying that the drug was legitimately prescribed and that LIMBAUGH's name was not on the label for privacy purposes. BLACK's statement in full read "While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT upon his return from an international trip, RUSH LIMBAUGH was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. LIMBAUGH's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. LIMBAUGH for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. LIMBAUGH was permitted to continue on his journey."
