Day 2: Bubba, Former GM Testify In Tampa Court
January 17, 2013 at 6:59 PM (PT)
The defamation suit against BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE by TODD SCHNITT continued TODAY with testimony from former CLEAR CHANNEL TAMPA GM DAN DILORETO, who said that while BUBBA's comments about SCHNITT "scared" him, he could not cite any financial losses suffered by SCHNITT as a result, nor did SCHNITT (a/k/a MJ KELLI) ask for additional security. The TAMPA BAY TIMES reports that the court heard clips of BUBBA saying on the air of his rival, "We seek and destroy. I will not be happy until I have an MJ funeral in the streets in TAMPA, FLORIDA" and "MJ, that's the only person I really want to die, seriously." DILORETO said that he thought that the latter comment was a "call to action" to BUBBA's fans, but he later noted that no violence resulted from the comments.
BUBBA also took the stand TODAY, talking about the hog butchering incident that gave rise to the conflict between himself, SCHNITT, and SCHNITT's wife MICHELLE, then an Assistant State Attorney. ABC affiliate WFTS-TV (ABC ACTION NEWS)/TAMPA reports that BUBBA said that his animosity towards SCHNITT and the assumption that his wife was playing a part in his prosecution for the hog case came from "connecting the dots based on the people that worked in the building, based on MJ's disdain for me." Former CLEAR CHANNEL AE JACQUELINE SCHWAB testified that she was the one who reported BUBBA to the authorities for the hog butchering and was not influenced by the SCHNITTS.
