While the new MISSISSIPPI RIVER bridge at ST. LOUIS continues to be constructed, CBS RADIO News-Talk KMOX-A/ST. LOUIS is launching an online petition and poll aimed at getting the bridge named after CARDINALS legend STAN MUSIAL, who passed away last weekend.
The idea of naming the bridge after "STAN THE MAN" has drawn legislative support from MISSOURI State Sens. JOHN LAMPING and ERIC SCHMITT, who announced on MARK REARDON's show that they would introduce a bill TODAY (1/22) to name the span the "STAN MUSIAL MEMORIAL BRIDGE." “I think as people make their way across the MISSISSIPPI RIVER, into ST. LOUIS, it would be a great welcome from a man who made everyone feel very comfortable,” said SCHMITT.
“He really did connect east and west. When he played, the CARDINALS were the west-most team, so he really did connect the country,” MUSIAL's grandson BRIAN SCHWARZE told KMOX. ”That would just such a great honor, to be able to have a bridge named after him.”
