For a second straight day, COMPASS MEDIA NETWORKS host TODD SCHNITT was on the stand to testify in his lawsuit against his rival on TAMPA radio, BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE. CBS affiliate WTSP-TV/ST. PETERSBURG-TAMPA reports that SCHNITT, also known as MJ KELLI when he was the morning host at CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WFLZ/TAMPA, spent all of WEDNESDAY's time on the stand describing what he considered BUBBA's harassment of SCHNITT and his wife MICHELLE.
SCHNITT, who WTSP describes as having been at one point "teary-eyed," recounted an incident in which a BUBBA fan veered at his car on the COURTNEY CAMPBELL CAUSEWAY between CLEARWATER and TAMPA. "Sixty miles an hour and a man is hanging out the window, his whole torso is out the window of the car and he's just screaming," SCHNITT recalled. He also testified that he had been grabbed by a BUBBA fan at the GASPARILLA Parade and had been confronted in other locations as well. He told the jury that he and his wife are suing BUBBA "to clear our good names, restore our reputation and prevent Mr. (BUBBA) CLEM from doing this to anybody else in the future,"
Under cross-examination by BUBBA's attorney GREG HEARING, SCHNITT was played clips from his own show to demonstrate how, according to HEARING, SCHNITT had discussed his own personal life on the radio. SCHNITT admitted, when prodded by HEARING, that he had not heard BUBBA say on the air that he wanted people to physically touch or harm him.
