Country artists KRIS KRISTOFFERSON and WILLIE NELSON appeared at the BLUEBIRD CAFÉ in NASHVILLE on SUNDAY (1/27) to receive inaugural honors from the NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL (NSAI).
KRIS KRISTOFFERSON is the namesake of the organization’s new Lifetime Achievement Award, and personally presented it to NELSON (the first artist to receive it).
"He’s (NELSON) unlike anybody else, because he is one of the best songwriters who ever wrote in any language. He’s absolutely a unique singer who doesn’t sound like anybody else ever... He’s probably the funniest human being I’ve ever known. Sometimes, I try to envision who GOD might be, and he always comes out looking like WILLIE. I’m really proud to be giving you this, I’m embarrassed that my face and my name is on it," KRISTOFFERSON told WILLIE.
We can take that right off," NELSON jokingly replied. "I thought I was coming here tonight to give you an award, so I had a great speech all lined up. It couldn’t match what you just said," he continued.
KRISTOFFERSON will also be appearing at NASHVILLE’s SIRIUSXM studios TOMORROW (1/29) for the latest "TOWN HALL" program, to be moderated by SIRIUSXM personality MOJO NIXON. KRISTOFFERSON will talk about his life, career and new album, "Feeling Mortal." SIRIUSXM listeners may submit questions for the program until 5p (ET) TODAY via TWITTER @SiriusXM (use the hashtag #SXMTownHALL) or on FACEBOOK at www.Facebook.com/SiriusXMOutlawCountry. The program will air on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2nd at 9p (ET) on OUTLAW COUNTRY, channel 60.
