HUBBARD Sports WXOS (101 ESPN)/ST. LOUIS "THE FAST LANE" afternoon co-host and former ST. LOUIS CARDINAL player CHRIS DUNCAN has returned to the show full-time as of YESTERDAY (1/28).
DUNCAN has been off the air other than recent brief interviews since OCTOBER 8th; he was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year and took time off for treatment but is now back. MINNESOTA TWINS pitcher and former CARDINAL BRAD THOMPSON filled in for DUNCAN during his treatment.
“I’m really excited and grateful to be back on ‘THE FAST LANE’ with (co-hosts) RANDY (KARRAKER) and D'MARCO (FARR)," said DUNCAN. I’m blessed to work at a great place like 101 ESPN with such outstanding people, and the timing couldn’t have been better with spring training a couple of weeks away."
“When CHRIS joined THE FAST LANE in JANUARY of 2012, we immediately saw he was a natural as a broadcaster, but then he, D’MARCO and I became like brothers. We were all stunned by his diagnosis, but I knew, and told him the night he found out about the tumor, that the same determination that got him to the majors and made him a terrific broadcaster would serve him well. I’m not surprised he’s back with us and doing well, and am thrilled to be able to be around hard work, sense of humor and hear his ‘DUNCAN-isms’ every weekday,” said KARRAKER.
FARR added, “I’m so glad to have DUNC back. We missed him – his energy and his character. It’s been great to have DUNC back at it full-time.”
PD KENT STERLING said of THOMPSON's fill-in stint that the pitcher "did an excellent job filling in for DUNC these past few months. Everyone at 101 ESPN appreciates his efforts, and we – as well as the listeners – wish him well as he prepares to pitch in 2013. If he pitches like he hosts, he’s going to get a lot of hitters out this year.”
