WMMR's Preston & Steve Present First-Ever Possum Bowl
January 30, 2013 at 10:47 AM (PT)
With the SUPER BOWL coming up this weekend, the PRESTON & STEVE morning show on GREATER MEDIA Active Rock WMMR/PHILADELPHIA will hold the first-ever POSSUM BOWL. This FRIDAY morning, from 7-9a. Two Possums from the local ACADEMY OF NATURAL SCIENCES will compete.
While the two SUPER BOWL coaches, brothers JIM and JOHN HARBAUGH, share aggressive coaching traits, WMMR's possum sisters are fairly calm and yes, they do occasionally play possum. MARIGOLD, an 8.249-pound VIRGINIA opossum, is likely to sleep on the field and PETUNIA, the 8.071-pound sister, is a little more active.
In a statement, the nocturnal animals say, "The challenge they face is playing that early in the day." Analysts say the sisters may or may not react to stimuli on the field.
Singer/songwriter/pianist, JESSY KYLE will begin the festivities by singing the National Anthem. The POSSUM VIXEN Cheerleading team will be on the sidelines for entertainment and ERIC BAZILIAN of PHILADELPHIA's THE HOOTERS has a very special live halftime show planned where WMMR spokespeople say, "He will NOT be lip-syncing."
A block pool has been set up and listeners can call into WMMR to win a block. Cash prizes will be awarded at the end of each quarter. Listeners can text ‘possumbowl’ to 39333 and they will be automatically signed up to receive game day updates!
