NPR Soon To Move To New Headquarters

NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO's new headquarters at 1111 N. Capitol Street, NE in WASHINGTON are nearing completion, the network said in a press release FRIDAY (2/1). Construction was completed in DECEMBER after three years and interior work will be finished in the middle of this month; after testing and training on new equipment, staff will move in from its former home at 635 Massachusetts Ave., NW in phases throughout MARCH and APRIL.
"Our new headquarters sets the stage for public radio's next leap forward," said Pres./CEO GARY E. KNELL. "Today, NPR is an essential source of national and international news and cultural programming for millions of radio listeners, and increasingly for those who rely on mobile and web platforms. We are confident that, working in partnership with our Member stations, we will set the standard for the next generation of journalism and audio storytelling from this new home."
