CUMULUS Active Rock WWWQ-HD2-W255CJ (98.9 THE BONE)/ATLANTA has flipped to an "Uplifting Country" hybrid, as 98.9 THE WALK.
The station is described as "featuring great music from great artists like CARRIE UNDERWOOD, MICHAEL W. SMITH, TIM MCGRAW, STEPHEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, KENNY CHESNEY, AMY GRANT, RASCAL FLATTS, THIRD DAY and MERCY ME."
THE WALK will be "targeting those individuals who love a special kind of Country music, people whose family values are strong, and those who are tired of being offended by what they hear on their radio. THE WALK is exactly that -- a radio station for people who want to hear their favorite songs, without anything that's inappropriate or embarrassing. We're perfect to listen to when you want to escape all of the negativity in the world. No silly or inappropriate DJ talk and music that’s safe to listen to no matter where you are and no matter when you listen."
Following THE REGULAR GUYS morning show at 10a, the station starting looping a promo featuring songs with "Walk" in the title, such as AEROSMITH's "Walk This Way," JOHNNY CASH's "I Walk The Line," THE BANGLES' "Walk Like An Egyptian," DIRE STRAITS' "The Walk Of Life," DIONNE WARWICK's "Walk On By" and more -- then announced that "today at Noon THE WALK comes to 98.9."
A FACEBOOK page for THE WALK is now active, and the station's website is www.989walk.com.
