MERLIN MEDIA Alternative WKQX (Q87.7)/CHICAGO premiered the return of FALL OUT BOY by playing their new song, “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light ‘Em Up),” YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 2/4) at 8:01a (CT) and then played the song at the top of every hour all day to promote last night's special initmate show at SUBTERRANEAN.
Q87.7’s PD PJ said: "FALL OUT BOY has a long and storied history with the city of CHICAGO, and CHICAGO radio in particular. We’re thrilled that they chose Q87.7 as the station to announce their next chapter to their fans! Most of all, we're thrilled to have new FOB music!"
"I want to thank CRUSH MANAGEMENT’s BOB MCLYNN and IDJMG’s CHRISTINE CHIAPPETTA and DAVID MCGILVRAY for partnering with Q87.7 to premiere the song," added OM JIM RICHARDS. We’re proud to be involved in this capacity with FALL OUT BOY.”
TODAY, APD/MD WALT FLAKUS told ALL ACCESS, "What an incredible night! SUBTERRANEAN holds maybe 300-350 people and the show sold out in 40 secs! We gave away tickets at the top of every hour when we played the song. Huge response! We’ve never seen that volume of text messages before. The band sounded great and came out swinging. My immediate impression was … this is a rock band who writes well-crafted songs, sung by a singer with an incredible voice! The crowd was singing every word from the start, true fans of the band. Then, they started to crowd surf. It was a great vibe! They played for about an hour-and-a-half, 24 songs in all."
FALL OUT BOY made a big return on iTUNES too with a #1 debut after one day.
