FCC Rejects Challenges To KCOH Sale

The FCC has rejected objections by Rep. SHEILA JACKSON LEE (D-TX) and Rev. JESSE JACKSON to the sale of Urban-Talk KCOH-A/HOUSTON by KCOH, INC. to LA PROMESA FOUNDATION and has granted the sale.
LEE and JACKSON contended that while the buyer is qualified, they were concerned about the loss of the format and diversity of media ownership. The Commission noted that it does not regulate formats and that the programming being dropped by KCOH is being continued by a group which has entered an agreement to move the programming and call letters of KCOH to crosstown LIBERMAN Ranchera KQUE-A (RADIO RANCHITO) and will broadcast from KCOH's historic studio starting MARCH 1st.
