February 11, 2013 at 8:25 AM (PT)
REELRADIO, the online repository of classic Top-40 radio airchecks, will present the 2012 edition of the annual "Fab 40 Airchecks" as a 45-hour streaming special presented in five parts during the week of FEBRUARY 11-15.
The countdown will begin with the #40 aircheck at 9a (PT) MONDAY morning, FEBRUARY 11th, and will continue in approximately nine-hour installments airing at the same time on subsequent mornings. In addition to the full desktop and mobile access provided to REELRADIO subscribers, desktop access will be provided for three hours of each day's installment for non-subscribers. The player for listening to the stream is built into the site; no downloads or installation is required to take advantage of the free access.
REELRADIO's "Fab 40" is compiled from the tabulation of subscriber listening during the 2012 calendar year. This year's countdown is based on 43,000 hours of listening to 2,837 titles, which were contributed by 297 exhibitors. Put in terms of typical radio ratings, average TSL ranged from 51 to 27 minutes and individual cume listening ranged from 608 to 225.
Included in this year's countdown are airchecks by such legendary Top-40 air personalities as THE REAL DON STEELE, who appears four times in the Fab 40; LEE "BABY" SIMMS, with three appearances; and DAN INGRAM and ROBERT W. MORGAN, who each appear twice. Stations in all of the major markets -- CHICAGO, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, SAN FRANCISCO, SAN DIEGO, PHILADELPHIA and HOUSTON are all represented.
Chart positions for the individual airchecks will not be announced until they are played during the special stream.
The complimentary access to free subscribers is in celebration of seventeen years of the repository’s operation; the first exhibits went online FEBRUARY 12, 1996. A special subscriber rate of $12/year is also in effect during the celebration, offering unlimited access to the nearly 3,000 airchecks available on the site.
