October 3, 2005 at 6:21 AM (PT)
Radio veteran (and published author, and newspaper columnist) BILL SCHMALFELDT has landed at the NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH and he tells ALL ACCESS that the NIH's new website includes reports from the frontiers of medical research ready for use by radio stations nationwide as well as the public.
NIH RADIO is produced by SCHMALFELDT, most recently at XM SATELLITE RADIO, and includes fully-produced, self-contained reports with information about NIH research findings, highlights of press conferences and health campaigns. The reports, avaliable as MP3 files or streaming via REALPLAYER, also include sound bites with the scientists, and are updated weekly and on a breaking-news basis.
Check the NIH RADIO site out at www.nih.gov/news/radio or hear the reports over the phone at 1-800-MED-DIAL; 60-second "NIH HEALTH MATTERS" reports air on several channels on XM as well.
