WBAI Looks To NY1 For Help In Battle Against Insurer Over Sandy Claim

PACIFICA noncommercial Variety WBAI/NEW YORK has enlisted the consumer help reporters at TIME WARNER CABLE's NY1 cable news channel to help it in its quest to get CHUBB INSURANCE to pay its claim for damage from Superstorm SANDY.
The radio station's 120 Wall Street offices and studios were in Zone A of MANHATTAN and were evacuated the day before the hurricane hit and shut down for three weeks afterwards, but CHUBB would only pay for three days of lost business, claiming that the damage was "water-related." The station contends that the damage was from the restrictions on access to the building and not directly from water damage, and has aired its complaint through NY1, which said that CHUBB has not responded to its request for comment.
"We're really afraid we're going to have to close the doors," WBAI Interim Development Dir. ANDREA KATZ told NY1.
