The WJPZ ALUMNI ASSOCIATION has begun production on a documentary, "Greatest Media Classroom,"chronicling WJPZ/SYRACUSE's history. The film, produced by WJPZ alumnus SCOTT MACFARLANE and OKLAHOMA-based film specialist SVP MEDIA, will include never-before-heard details of the station’s origins, development and accomplishments.
The film will also include rare audio airchecks, photos and mementos from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s, some featuring WJPZ’s most storied alumni and leaders in the communications industry. "One of the real treats of this film is the rare audio of WJPZ’s debut on the FM dial on JANUARY 30th, 1985, arguably the greatest accomplishment by any college radio station in history," WJPZ Alumni Association Pres. T.J. BASALLA said. "The full WJPZ story is long overdue to be told and finally, it will all be accessible in one place, as told by the alumni who lived it We appreciate the dozens of alumni who took the time to search their basements and closets for the elements that will be featured in this film."
"Greatest Media Classroom" release date is set for late 2013. It will be accessible online, using multiple platforms, once complete.
