Jorge Jarrin To Fill In On Dodgers Radio
March 6, 2013 at 4:27 AM (PT)
Longtime former LOS ANGELES-area traffic reporter JORGE JARRIN will get a chance to follow his Hall of Fame baseball broadcaster father JAIME JARRIN into the LOS ANGELES DODGERS radio booth, but, unlike Dad, in English, reports the LOS ANGELES TIMES, as the younger JARRIN fills in for CHARLEY STEINER on the English-language broadcast for THURSDAY's exhibition game against the TEXAS RANGERS in GLENDALE, AZ.
JORGE JARRIN, known as "CAPTAIN JORGE" for airborne traffic reports on Talk KABC-A/LOS ANGELES in 1985-2011, served as play-by-play voice of the DODGERS for Spanish-language broadcasts on FOX DEPORTES television last season.
THURSDAY's game will be JORGE's first radio play-by-play assignment; he has also been hosting "DODGER TALK" segments for the team's flagship, CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KLAC-A/LOS ANGELES. The elder JARRIN has been the team's Spanish-language play-by-play voice since 1958.
