Mark Ramsey Sets First 'Hivio' Conference

As hinted by ALL ACCESS yesterday (NET NEWS, 3/18), radio analyst and MARK RAMSEY MEDIA Pres. MARK RAMSEY will convene the first-ever Radio Ideas Festival, an intimate unconventional meeting of the minds dubbed "HIVIO." No more than 50 people will attend this invitation-only event, which will be held in SAN DIEGO on JUNE 20th at a secret location.
RAMSEY polled 1,000 random U.S. respondents 18 and over, asking whether or not they agree to the question, "Radio brands create unique and compelling content." By over a 3-to-1 ratio, the answer was no. "And the younger you are, the worse the numbers," he noted. To maintain its relevance into the future, radio needs to embrace fresh and exciting consumer-facing ideas ... Ideas which lead to stronger, more compelling and memorable content. It's not just about how to better sell what we have, it's about how to have more stuff consumers want to consume in the first place. Outside in, people first."
HIVIO, which will be free of charge, will be held in a "gritty warehouse space filled with delightfully uncomfortable fold-out chairs," and will offer "Presentations and in-depth Q&A with media, agency, brand, technology, and content authorities who are not the same old radio faces ... live and captured on video for public distribution."
The full lineup will be announced in the future, but it will feature "an up close and personal Q&A with PANDORA co-founder TIM WESTERGREN and a live presentation from a little company called GOOGLE."
More information and info on how to get a free ticket is available at the HIVIO site.
