FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell Is Stepping Down

FCC commissioner ROBERT MCDOWELL, who was expected to step down, announced at the FCC's public meeting earlier TODAY (3/20), that he will be exiting the commission in "a few weeks."
MCDOWELL, who has served as a commissioner for six years, was set to have his term expire in JUNE 2014.
NAB Pres./CEO GORDON SMITH offered the following statement: "ROBERT MCDOWELL has been a remarkably gifted public servant during his seven-year tenure at the FCC. His good humor and grace have been matched only by his ardent support for fair media ownership rules and full-throated support for a vibrant First Amendment. Commissioner MCDOWELL will succeed in whatever path he chooses, and NAB wishes him well."
