ALL ACCESS was saddened to hear of the passing of EDGAR R. LYONS, the father of BARRY LYONS (owner of independent consulting firm RENT A LABEL),on TUESDAY MARCH 19th in SUNRISE, FLORIDA. He was 91.

BARRY told ALL ACCESS "My Dad had a long and successful career in the music industry, starting back in the early 50's as an independent distributor for labels like CADENCE, ABC, and many others. In the early 60's, he started a chain of retail music stores in upstate NEW YORK, MIDTOWN RECORDS."

The company eventually became known as RECORD THEATER, with stores in BUFFALO, ROCHESTER, SYRACUSE, ERIE, ITHACA, CLEVELAND, CINCINNATI, and BALTIMORE. As a distributor, EDGAR helped propel many careers, from ANDY WILLIAMS to the EVERLY BROTHERS. As a a retailer, he rode the explosion of rock that was fueled in the 60's by the BEATLES.

EDGAR is survived by his sons JEFFREY, BARRY, and ANDREW LYONS and Grandchildren JENNIFER, ADAM, and BARBRA LYONS. Funeral services will be this SUNDAY in BUFFALO, NY.
