WMMR Celebrates 45 Years of Rock This Month

WMMR Turns 45 April 29th

All this month GREATER MEDIA Active Rocker WMMR/PHILADELPHIA will celebrate it's 45th year as a Rock station. WMMR actually signed on the air on APRIL 29, 1968 with pioneering DJ DAVE HERMAN playing THE BEATLES "Flying."

The station will feature music and clips from the MMaRchives each day in APRIL during Mid Day host PIERRE ROBERT's noontime show. Special weekends do the same with WMMR@45 Flashbacks imaging more of those cool moments.

WMMR PD BILL WESTON says, "It will be 45 continuous years as a contemporary rock station.  We never flipped to classic rock like KSHE did, and never flipped to top-40 like WMMS did. We have always played a mix of new and familiar rock music and are still going strong.  I do not know the answer, but would like to know if there is currently another rock station in AMERICA that can claim an earlier birthday?"
