The 48th Annual ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) AWARDS aired LAST NIGHT (4/7) on CBS-TV and scored over 15 million viewers. This year’s show marks the largest viewing audience since 1998, and it was the show’s first time to surpass the same season’s COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS (CMA) in ratings and people meters. Bolstered by the ACM AWARDS, CBS easily out-paced all other networks to win the night.
“Wow,” said ACM CEO BOB ROMEO. “We knew we had a great plan to get the word out to music fans to watch, but the fact that they embraced us on this level just makes us want to reach higher next year.”
The ACM AWARDS also stole the spotlight online, scoring 1.9 million social media comments from over 600,000 participants. The ACM AWARDS content accessed on CBS.com also rose 136% from last year.
