THE PRESS DEMOCRAT/SANTA ROSA reports that a local group of investors lead by radio veteran LAWRENCE AMATURO will purchase MAVERICK MEDIA's five station cluster in SANTA ROSA, CA.
SONOMA MEDIA GROUP LLC's $4.5 million deal will include the purchase of Country KFGY (FROGGY 92.9), Classic Rock KVRV (97.7 THE RIVER), Hot AC KMHX (MIX 104.9), Top 40 KHTH (HOT 101.7), and News/Talk KSRO-A, a station AMATURO previously owned before he sold it to EMERALD CITY RADIO PARTNERS in 2000. Look for the current programming, formats, and staff to remain in place.
According to AMATURO, "The opportunity was irresistible, more than half of this community is listening to these stations each week ... We're not going to leave anything off the table, I'm going to try to be the best listener that I can to the team that is in place, to the advertisers who are benefiting from what we're doing well, and to be as good a listener as I can for as long as I can before I make any changes. Half the market is listening to them."
KSRO-A afternoon host of "THE DRIVE" STEVE JAXON added, "It's a big deal for all of us. It's great to have local ownership again."
