WLS-A Celebrates 89th Birthday Friday

A special broadcast on FRIDAY (3/12) 6-8p (CT) will mark CUMULUS Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO's 89t' anniversary. Afternoon "ROE AND ROEPER" co-host ROE CONN will host the "89th Birthday Bash Broadcast," which will include appearances by several of the station's former stars, including DICK BIONDI, CATHERINE JOHNS and WAYNE MESSMER, with special birthday greetings from LARRY LUJACK, JEFF HENDRIX, Mayor RAHM EMANUEL, Rep. PETER ROSKAM, and NOTRE DAME Football Coach BRIAN KELLY. ILLINOIS Governor PAT QUINN will be on the show issuing a special proclamation.
“When I got into radio I never expected one set of call letters to mean so much to me, and to so many listeners,” said current WLS-F host and "THE BIG 89" legend JOHN RECORDS LANDECKER, who recently published his autobiography "RECORDS Truly Is My Middle Name." “WLS, THE BIG 89, truly is the 50,000 watt blow torch of the MIDWEST.”
