FORDHAM UNIVERSITY Triple A WFUV/NEW YORK’s news and sports departments have recently received journalistic recognition.
First, the station received three GRACIE AWARDS, given by the ALLIANCE FOR WOMEN IN MEDIA FOUNDATION: ROBIN SHANNON as Outstanding Anchor - News or News Magazine for her work with Fordham Conversations; CLAUDIA MORELL as Outstanding Student News Anchor; and JULIE CLARK as Outstanding Student News Producer.
Second, WFUV has learned that several of its student broadcasters have been named finalists in the Region 1 MARK OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS, issued by the SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS. Among them are CONNOR RYAN in the Radio In-Depth Reporting category and KYLE KESSES for Radio Sports Reporting. Also in the running is the total news staff for Best All-Around Radio Newscast.
"I couldn't be prouder of the work produced by WFUV's newsroom," said News & Public Affairs Director GEORGE BODARKY. "Our anchors, reporters and producers work tirelessly to do right by our listeners. They conduct themselves with honesty and respect. I'm especially proud of our student journalists who work just as hard as any seasoned professional in the business. They dig deep into their stories to make sure the information they present is fair, balanced and worthy of reporting."
