THE NEW YORK TIMES has profiled BOB WOLFF, the longtime sportscaster, who is being honored by the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS next week for his donation of about 1.400 audio and video recordings of sportscasting, including many rare interviews with athletes from BABE RUTH, TY COBB, and CONNIE MACK to DEREK JETER and ALEX RODRIGUEZ.
WOLFF, who started in radio at WDNC-A/DURHAM, NC while a student at DUKE, called some of sports' most iconic games, including DON LARSEN's perfect game and the 1958 NFL Championship between the BALTIMORE COLTS and NEW YORK GIANTS. He remains active at the age of 92, working for cable's NEWS 12 LONG ISLAND.
