FCC Nixes Request For Waiver, Dismisses One Of Applicant's Two Overlapping FM Translator Applications

The FCC has dismissed one of two applications for FM translators filed by SAM-SNO EDUCATIONAL MEDIA in the Auction 83 filing window.
The applicant had requested a waiver of the rule prohibiting contour overlap between two translator applications filed by the same licensee in the same market, contending that the overlap was de minimis (1.4 square kilometers and 761 people). However, the Commission rejected the waiver request, dismissed SAM-SNO's application for a translator at MCCLEARY, WA, and will continue to process the application for a translator at NORTH OLYMPIA, WA.
