The FCC has fined STEPHEN R. PETERS and DELLA JANE WOOFTER $10,000 each for missing issues/programs lists in the public files at Classic Country WHAW-A/LOST CREEK, WV.
PETERS, the former owner and station manager, and WOOFTER, the successor licensee, both contended that the missing lists were storm-damaged and drying out elsewhere when the FCC inspection occurred, but the FCC did not buy that explanation, noting a lack of water damage on the lists eventually submitted as evidence and a lack of damage to other documents in the file.
Also, GENEVA WALKER has been fined $3,000 for failure to maintain operational EAS equipment and records indicating why EAS tests were not received at WMAF-A/MADISON, FL. The fine was reduced from $8,000 for inability to pay.
