Retailer Caught In Political Furor Over Limbaugh ... And It Didn't Even Buy An Ad

A battle between liberal and conservative groups over advertising on RUSH LIMBAUGH's show caught department store chain BELK in the middle ... and the store hadn't itself bought any ads on the show.
The RALEIGH NEWS AND OBSERVER reports that a co-op ad purchased by a vendor aired on LIMBAUGH's show and mentioned BELK, and a liberal group that monitors LIMBAUGH's show to pressure advertisers to abandon the show targeted BELK in a FACEBOOK post, prompting the liberal website DAILY KOS to include BELK in an article criticizing LIMBAUGH.
BELK then posted a message on the FACEBOOK post saying that it did not buy the ad and, "We’ve asked the vendor to pull the ads featuring BELK from The RUSH LIMBAUGH Show going forward." The response only served to draw the ire of conservatives, who posted that they would no longer shop at the store because it was not advertising on LIMBAUGH's show.
“This is why we don’t advertise on Talk radio,” said BELK spokeswoman JESSICA GRAHAM.
