SHOW DOG- UNIVERSAL MUSIC artist TRACE ADKINS was named the first-ever "ALL-STAR CELEBRITY APPRENTICE" on last NIGHT’s (5/19) season finale of NBC-TV’s "CELEBRITY APPRENTICE ALL-STARS."
Competing against LAS VEGAS magician PENN JILLETTE (of PENN & TELLER), the final task involved creating a custom blend ice cream flavor, as well as a corresponding commercial and launch party for the ice cream. JILLETTE’s ice cream contained chocolate, caramel, vanilla and sea salt, called "CHOCOLATE SWIRTLE," and ADKINS’ flavor was called "MACADAMIA MASH-UP," including macadamia nuts and maple flavoring.
Host and creator of the show, DONALD TRUMP, announced TRACE ADKINS as the season winner during the live finale in NEW YORK CITY last NIGHT. TRACE was playing on behalf of his charity of choice- THE AMERICAN RED CROSS, which benefitted $950,000 from his time on the show ($250,000 grand prize plus $700,000 throughout the course of the season).
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS honored ADKINS with their CRYSTAL CROSS award on SUNDAY (5/19) as well, following the live finale. The organization’s President and CEO, GAIL J. McGOVERN said, "TRACE brings humor, honesty, hard work, and grit to everything he does. We could not ask for a better representative of the RED CROSS."
About why he chose to play for THE AMERICAN RED CROSS, TRACE said, "When my home was claimed by fire last year (NET NEWS 6/6/11), RED CROSS volunteers were among the first on-site. They looked after my family when I couldn't be there and offered help. We were fortunate because we could replace the things we lost, but that's not always the case for every disaster victim. That's when the RED CROSS steps in. I am supporting the mission of the RED CROSS and hope to help them reach more people in need."
During the "ALL-STAR CELEBRITY APPRENTICE" finale, TRACE ADKINS debuted the first single, "Love Will" off of his new album of the same name.
