Tweet By KROQ's Kevin Ryder On L.A. Kings Account Prompts Apologies

TUESDAY wasn't a good night for the defending STANLEY CUP champion LOS ANGELES KINGS, who lost to the SAN JOSE SHARKS 2-1 to even their playoff series, but the team also ended up issuing an apology for a tweet on the club's official Twitter account by CBS RADIO Alternative KROQ/LOS ANGELES morning "KEVIN AND BEAN" co-host KEVIN RYDER during the game.
RYDER took over the account, known for its edgy humor, as a guest tweeter for the second period, heralded by the tweet, ".@thekevinryder is taking over @LAKings for the 2nd period.... we've made a huge mistake." RYDER tweeted, "GALIARDI gets a penalty for running over QUICK. Power play KINGS. KOPITAR just got sexually assaulted in front of NIEMI."
Shortly after the tweet and others were posted, the KINGS removed them and posted, "We apologize for the tweets that came from a guest of our organization. They were inappropriate and do not reflect the LA KINGS." RYDER, on his own account, wrote, "My apology. I made a poor choice in the wording of my tweet. I wish I had used different words. If you were hurt by me, I'm sorry," followed by, "I get angry when groups like DEADSPIN see it as kindling to make a fire for themselves. That's worse than my choice of words." He also tweeted in a post later deleted, "Should I apologize? I apologize to the KINGS. Not to DEADSPIN, or ESPN, or any other group taking my joke out of context to be outraged by."
