May 22, 2013 at 12:57 PM (PT)
Contemporary Christian radio stations are, from the core, built on community. And when one of those communities sees another that is in need, the response is quick and widespread.
Many CCM stations across the country are actively letting their listeners know real-life ways to reach out and help the victims of the most recent tornado in MOORE OK.
RADIO TRAINING NETWORK Christian WCIE (The Joy FM)/ATLANTA-TAMPA-SARASOTA is in the early stages of a gift card drive, and working on a plan to put donated gift cards in the hands of the people that need them the most in the stricken area. Details will be announced soon. For continuing updates, visit TheJoyFM.com
WAY MEDIA Christian WAY-FM NETWORK is flying “The Wally Show” to MOORE OK today. VP FARON DICE tells ALL ACCESS, "Wally will be able to get the same access as General Market Media has right now near the disaster site. That includes the command posts and several distribution points. Those areas are right near the path of destruction. He’ll also get a chance to interview affected families and see the damage. And, he’ll join FEED THE CHILDREN in making deliveries into some of the devastated areas." To follow WALLY on his journey, visit WayFM.com
PD RYAN GAGNE from WYQQ (The Q90.1)/WORCESTER MA says, "We immediately came on board to offer our listeners ways to get involved. One, we're asking listeners to pray for OK, when they visit our website at www.TheQ901.com We have a banner on our homepage asking listeners to do just that, along with a link for listeners to get ideas on how to help. Two, all of the on-air team is offering stories of hope and encouragement of what's come out of the OK tornado. Three, we're currently running spots in tribute to OK, along with ways listeners can help support relief organizations (RED CROSS, SALVATION ARMY, CONVOY OF HOPE, etc)

As we already had a free brown bag concert taking place last night featuring BUILDING 429, we took the time before the concert began to pray with the crowd to lift up the community and all those affected by the devastating tornadoes.
