CPR mastermind PAIGE NIENABER found several other stations launching events and fundraisers to help those impacted by the OKLAHOMA tornado. Here's his round-up of who's doing what:
Go Where The People Are
In ANY market, it’s MCDONALDS so WPOW (POWER 96)/Miami will be at MCD’s all over the market through FRIDAY afternoon collecting batteries and water; they’ll ALSO be at the HEAT game on FRIDAY night still collecting ... and on SATURDAY morning, the DJs will drive it to OKLAHOMA.
Operation Teddy Bear
This has been proven to be a successful campaign over and over again, and SUMMIT in BIRMINGHAM started it yesterday and got their first TV story last night. http://www.cbs42.com/
Money For Moore
JOHN and TAMMY at KSON/SAN DIEGO are out doing a version of Change Bandits and are blitzing hot zips asking for people to empty their piggy banks and bring by the money today and tomorrow. Two confirmed TV shots and they’ve set up a drive-thru lane so you can just pour out your money and move on.
And From St. Louis....
Courtesy MARTY LINCK at CBS/St. Louis, the FRESH morning show is heading to OKLAHOMA CITY tomorrow to broadcast THURSDAY morning (get some interviews, ask on-site folks what St. Louisans can do to help -- no grandstanding, just there to find out what we can do and explain what they see). Bottled water and clothing drives are set for FRIDAY at two locations around town. HOGAN TRUCKING to drive everything to Oklahoma.
Sister Y98 is holding a Tornado relief request-a-thon .Pay money, hear whatever song you want with PHILLIPS and company from 9a-7p. The bigger the donation, the sooner we get your request on the air. The angle is that we felt so helpless all week, and since we don’t have any real way to physically help, let’s do what we know how to do to -- raise money ... by playing songs.
