FCC Proposes Fines Against Two Louisiana Stations

The FCC has proposed two fines against PITTMAN BROADCASTING SERVICES, LLC, one for $22,500 at Country WUUU-F(CAT COUNTRY 98.9)/FRANKLINTON, LA and another for $15,000 at Talk KVOL-A/LAFAYETTE, LA.
At a JUNE 1, 2012 inspection, WUUU's EAS equipment would not turn on; the station OM said that the equipment had been hit by a lightning strike but the FCC agent noted no records of EAS tests well before the alleged lightning strike. Lighting was also observed to be nonfunctional and tower paint had faded and chipped.
KVOL allegedly had been operating with daytime power at night, and had also been without operational EAS equipment since moving main studios in 2011.
