CUMULUS MEDIA’s day-long, company-wide fundraising effort for OKLAHOMA tornado relief (NET NEWS 5/29) has raised $3.77 million toward UNITED WAY OKLAHOMA CITY, according to CUMULUS SVP/Programming MIKE McVAY. WEDNESDAY's total is likely to grow even larger because numbers from the WEST COAST have not been completely tabulated.
CUMULUS utilized the resources of its 525 radio stations, which include 84 Country outlets, during an all-day campaign to raise funds for survivors and families of the MAY 20th tornado. WEDNESDAY’s event coincided with the “HEALING IN THE HEARTLAND” concert special which aired on NBC-TV. Prior to the show, CUMULUS Country stations ran a live, a one-hour special hosted by CUMULUS MEDIA NETWORKS’ “AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN” host KIX BROOKS and KSCS/DALLAS morning personality HAWKEYE, originating backstage at OKC’s CHESAPEAKE ENERGY ARENA .
