MCA NASHVILLE artist GEORGE STRAIT has wrapped up the 2013 leg of his final tour, "THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR," with a show in his hometown of SAN ANTONIO on SUNDAY (6/2).
The 2-hour show broke STRAIT’s previous sales record, selling out 73,086 at the ALAMODOME with special guests MARTINA McBRIDE and MIRANDA LAMBERT. GEORGE opened the show by saying "I've been thinking about this show all month long, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous... but I'm not anymore!"
Throughout the tour, STRAIT has been raising money for the JENIFER STRAIT FOUNDATION- created in honor of his daughter who passed away at the age of 13- through the sale of special VIP packages. $239,000 was raised as a result. Additionally, GEORGE awarded more military families with homes through the "HOMES 4 WOUNDED HEROES" program on the TEXAS stage last NIGHT. U.S. MARINE CORPS Staff Sergeant JOSE SANCHEZ and his family was the 339th recipient of a home and U.S. ARMY SFC JOHN FAULKENBERRY and family received the 340th home. At least one service member has been awarded a home at every tour stop throughout "THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR."
STRAIT’s 2014 "THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR" dates will be announced this SUMMER. Meanwhile, fans can pick up his 40th studio album, "Love Is Everything," in stores now.
