COMPASS MEDIA NETWORKS syndicated talker TODD SCHNITT and his wife MICHELLE were represented in court again on MONDAY, reports the TAMPA BAY TIMES, this time for a hearing over an additional million dollars in legal fees the couple has refused to pay to the firm that represented them in their failed civil defamation trial against rival host BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE.
The SCHNITTS sued SHUMAKER, LOOP AND KENDRICK for legal malpractice after the firm hit them with the additional fees, and the SCHNITTS asked the court on MONDAY to rule that their case can go to trial in court rather than to an arbitrator, as the law firm says is required by a clause that the SCHNITTS counter they never saw. A final decision is scheduled for DECEMBER, with Circuit Judge CHARLES BERGMANN presiding.
Meanwhile, BUBBA's law firm ADAMS AND DIACO issued a press release MONDAY asserting that there is no evidence for the allegation that it set up the SCHNITT's attorney PHIL CAMPBELL for a DUI arrest. The incident threw the original case into turmoil in JANUARY, with reports that a paralegal for BUBBA's lawyers was with CAMPBELL when he was arrested and questions about who was in possession of CAMPBELL's case documents. The press release said that the paralegal, MELISSA PERSONIUS, and the restaurant valet, JOSHUA MOORE, have provided information that indicates no setup was involved.
