The ATLANTA HAWKS have inked a multi-year deal to move to CBS RADIO Sports WZGC (SPORTSRADIO 92-9 THE GAME)/ATLANTA starting with next season. THE GAME will air all regular season and postseason games plus pregame and postgame shows and other dedicated HAWKS programming. STEVE HOLMAN remains the play-by-play voice of the HAWKS, who move from crosstown Sports WCNN-A (680 THE FAN).
“Entering into a partnership with 92-9 THE GAME will create exciting opportunities for both the ATLANTA HAWKS and our new flagship,” said HAWKS and PHILIPS ARENA President BOB WILLIAMS. “CBS RADIO’s sports talk investment in the greater ATLANTA market, the NBA and the HAWKS, boasting one of the most powerful signal strengths in the SOUTHEAST, means more HAWKS fans than ever will be able to follow and support our team and interact with the basketball savvy on-air talent at 92-9 THE GAME 24 hours a day, year-round.”
"We are very excited to partner with the ATLANTA HAWKS organization,” said CBS RADIO ATLANTA SVP/Market Manager RICK CAFFEY. “DANNY FERRY, Coach BUD (MIKE BUDENHOLZER) and the Team are launching a new era of HAWKS basketball and 92-9 THE GAME is very proud to play a part in bringing the vivacity of the NBA to fans across the entire metro of ATLANTA.”
The deal was set to be unveiled at 9a (ET) TODAY on the air with GM DANNY FERRY, players AL HORFORD and ZAZA PACHULIA, and former players DOMINIQUE WILKINS and CHARLIE CRISS on hand and call-ins from BUDENHOLZER and LOU WILLIAMS.
