Kassof Company: Country Fans Born This Way

Radio listeners who call Country music their favorite, cite being “born and raised” with it as the biggest reason for preferring it.
According to a new study from MARK KASSOF & CO, heritage trumped sound as the number one reason to choose Country on the radio. Among 18-64 year-olds surveyed, 19% said growing up with it drove their allegiance.
“I’m impressed by the enthusiasm Country fans have for the music,” said MARK KASSOF. “For many, Country has been part of their lives from their very beginnings, and it continues to reflect and relate to their lives.”
Other descriptions of why Country is used most include “telling a story” (11%); “relates to their own lives” (8%); “honest and true to life” (7%) and “words that are easy to understand” (7%).
KASSOF surveyed 121 U.S. residents aged 18-64 between WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5th and SUNDAY, JUNE 9th.
The study is part of KASSOF’s series of LISTENERTHINK SURVEYS. The company is a research and strategy firm specializing in radio.
