SIRIUS XM RADIO is officially launching RURAL RADIO on JULY 15th, placing the channel on Channel 80. An official launch celebration is set for AUGUST 3rd at INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY. The channel, programmed by RURAL MEDIA GROUP and sister to cable's RFD-TV, changed its name from "RADIO RFD" after a lawsuit by the ILLINOIS AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION, which operates the RFD RADIO NETWORK.
"SIRIUSXM's unparalleled programming and easy-to-use technology has been embraced by rural consumers in their cars, pickups, tractors and combines throughout NORTH AMERICA," said RURAL RADIO founder PATRICK GOTTSCH. "RURAL RADIO is designed to fill the growing demand for more rural content that is being ignored by urban-based broadcasters. I want to publicly thank the SIRIUSXM executives for seeing this opportunity and stepping up to fill this void. RURAL RADIO will be a strong asset to the powerful SIRIUSXM lineup."
The schedule includes three daily, weekday shows, COMMODITY WRAP, RURAL EVENING NEWS and MARKET DAY REPORT, hosted by MARK OPPOLD and JANET ADKISON; HORSE TALK; VETS ON CALL; WESTERN SPORTS; and more.
