The FCC has issued $26,000 in fines on SALMON RIVER COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for late license renewal applications and unauthorized post-expiration operation of AC KSRA-A and Country KSRA-F/SALMON, ID.
The licenses expired in 2005 and the renewals were filed only after notification of expiration in 2010, and the licensee said in an STA request that the failure to file was an inadvertent omission, but the licensee failed to respond to the notice of apparent liability in the matter. Each station was fined $13,000 for the infraction.
The FCC has also proposed a $2,000 fine on KXEO RADIO, INC. for public file violations at AC KXEO-A and Country KWWR/MEXICO, MO. The licensee admitted that quarterly issues/programs lists were missing, but attributed it to the former GM, who had been with the station 32 years and walked out in SEPTEMBER 2010 with the files, offered to sell them back to the station for $100,000, and never returned (and who has since died).
The Commission reduced the fine from $10,000 due to the facts of the case, and renewed the stations' licenses.
