DAN VALLIE's NATIONAL RADIO TALENT SYSTEM is launching the KENTUCKY BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE TODAY (7/22). Among the sponsors of the ten day WKU event are THE CROMWELL GROUP, COMMONWEALTH BROADCASTING, FOREVER COMMUNICATIONS, HENSON MEDIA, FORCHT BROADCASTING, WITHERS COMMUNICATIONS, ANDERSON AND ASSOCIATES, and LM COMMUNICATIONS; WKU President GARY RANSDELL, POTTER COLLEGE/WKU Dean DAVID LEE, and WKU Director of Journalism and Broadcasting Dr. LOUP LANGTON kicking things off this morning with opening comments.
WKU Assistant Professor and longtime broadcaster DICK TAYKOR will moderate the event, which includes talks with 36 radio professionals, including CROMWELL's BUD WALTERS, COMMONWEALTH's STEVE NEWBERRY, FOREVER's CHRISTINE HILLARD, and HENSON MEDIA's ED HENSON. Also included are RAB sales training modules, with each student taking the Radio Marketing Professional exam,
VALLIE said, “The people at the KBA, all the broadcasters sponsoring the Institute, and the leadership at WKU, embrace the vision and see this as vitally important, not only in bringing fresh talent into the industry today, but talent that will be industry leaders tomorrow as radio continues to thrive into this 21st century. These students are starting their careers in radio, and we are developing the next generation of broadcasters. The students come with enthusiasm and passion for the business, and it’s very impressive how industry professionals sacrifice their time to come to the campus to teach sessions and give back to the industry.”
